Bestroadraces.com Announces The Kauai Marathon as One of the
Top One Hundred Road Races in North America
Bob Anderson, the founder of Runner’s World magazine recently started up a new website called bestroadraces.com.  As an avid runner with a passion for the sport, he felt that it was difficult to pick and choose from the thousands of races available nationwide and wanted to provide runners a comprehensive and thorough site that rates the best running events in all of North America.
In order to be considered for the list, the race needs to be recommended by a reputable runner that has participated in the race.  Other measures include awards, aid stations, gift bags, runner’s experience during race festivities and more.
After receiving glowing accolades from several elite runners from the 2011 event, coupled with positive comments from participants on marathonguide.com and other highly regarded race websites, The Kauai Marathon was honored with the Top 100 status.  The only other Hawaii race listed was the Honolulu Marathon, which just celebrated its 38th year in existence.
The magnitude of this standing is unprecedented for a race that has only been in existence for three years.  Running races and participants have grown exponentially over the last 40 years.  According to Running USA’s Annual Marathon Report from 2010 (2011 statistics are not yet available) 507,000 people finished full marathons while 1,385,000 finished half marathons in the United States alone.  Both statistics broke the record in their category.  Men still tend to dominate full marathons with a 59% participation rate while the women with 59% completion rate rule half marathoners.
There are thousands of running events around the country and The Kauai Marathon is proud to be considered one of the best.  Race organizers are excited to host Anderson when he travels to Kauai in September to run the half marathon as one of the 50 races that he is going to participate in 2012. The 4th Annual Kauai Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Poipu, Kauai.  The event offers the marathon and half marathon distances, which are certified by USATF and AIMS.  The headquarters hotel is the luxurious Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, which hosts the Sports & Fitness Expo, Event Registration, Fun Run and more.  For additional information, please visit www.thekauaimarathon.com
